The word anointing comes from
A. Hebrew Masah-to paint with colors to set apart for service
B. Greek chario- to smear or rub with oil’ to consecrate
C. chrism unction-the empowerment of the Holy spirit’s presence and power: chraomai to handle, to employ, to act towards, to furnish what is needed
II. God has anointed us
A. Isaiah 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Jesus repeated this scripture
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

III. How do we experience the anointing of God?
A. Matthew 16:24, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23; Pick up your cross and follow me. This is referring to denying yourself. When we deny ourselves then the Holy Spirit can work as we are no longer full of us.
B. Spending time in His word. Spending time talking to Him we then begin to deny ourselves.
Conclusion: The anointing does not fall and rise. The anointing of God is there. However we fall and rise out of it by not spending time with God. When we fail to spend time with Him and we fail to do His will then our perception of that anointing will fluctuate. It is always there it is always there because HE is always there. Release the cares of this world and spend time at His feet reaching up to His face.

Anointing essay

The Anointing
What is the anointing? Where does the anointing come from? Who is anointed?
The Hebrew word for anoint is Masah which means to paint with colors; to set apart for service; to rub. The Greek word for anointing is Chario to smear or rub with oil’ to consecrate. Other words for anointing are Chrisma which means unction, the empowerment of the Holy Spirit’s presence and power. Chraomai- to handle, to employ, to act towards, to furnish what is needed.
What is the anointing? The simplest answer is the one given in class. The ANOINTING is the unction (empowerment) given to the believer by the
HOLY ONE (Jesus) through the ministry of the HOLY SPIRIT to SET the believer
apart so they can HANDLE and EMPLOY God's POWER to make available
whatever is needful to fulfill God's PURPOSES when it is RELEASED by FAITH to the believer.
The anointing of God is felt in His presence, through His word, in service, IN HIM. His anointing brings life, health and healing.
Who is anointed? US His children those that truly believe in Him. He anoints His children to preach His word, heal the sick,
Isaiah 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Isaiah 61:2  To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
The anointing brings joy, beauty, praise. The anointing brings deliverance and freedom.
Where does it come from? The father through the Holy Spirit. “ the Lord hath anointed me”.
He anoints us to serve Him completely, unreservedly. Through every aspect of our lives and being. He anoints us for HIMSELF.

not been around awhile

I was not able to post in a while as my computer had been stolen right out of my house. KJV
2 Chronicles 7:14 (Amplified Bible)
14If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
I have recently posted about this scripture on a friends Face book page-
“one of my fav verses is 2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
That is the ultimate Holy Ghost revival. And exactly what we need now. There are today in this world ... so many false so called "christian" teaching that we need men and women of God that will stand for the truth of God. And from revival grows the courage to do just that.”
Revival!? Revival is man seeking God and God in His mercy touching man as a result. True revival brings the lost into the Kingdom, brings healing to the sick, brings life to the church. True revival is not about emotionalism (even though as emotional creatures that accompanies it) yet revival is about God in His sovereignty meets with man in a special way.

Look at a couple of revivals The Azusa street revival it was said. "Brother Seymour generally sat behind two empty shoe boxes, one on top of the other. He usually kept his head inside the top one during the meeting, in prayer.”

In 1993, two years before the revival began, Brownsville's pastor, John Kilpatrick, began directing his congregation to pray for revival. God answered in a most awesome way with a Holy Ghost revival.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (Amplified Bible)
14If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. The main theme of the book of Matthew was-Jesus the Messiah and King Matthew focused most on the strength of Jesus and had a main audience of religious Jews.

Mark who wrote the book of Mark was also know as John Mark, and was the same Mark that traveled with Paul and Barnabas. John Mark was also an associate of Peter’s. His mother was a wealthy and prominent Christian in the Jerusalem church, and possible that the church met in her home. Mark’s focus for the book of Mark was Jesus the servant. He had a main audience of Romans.

Luke was a physician and wrote the book of Luke. .Luke not only wrote the book of Luke but he also wrote the book of Acts. Luke was a gentile unlike the other authors of the bible. Luke was also believed to have been Paul’s physician. Luke showed us Jesus the perfect man. He had a main audience of Greek.

John was written "the disciple whom Jesus loved," John the Apostle, was one of the sons of Zebedee. We see Jesus call John “son of thunder”. When Jesus said upon the cross “Woman, behold thy son. Son behold thy mother”. It was addressed to John. John looked at the deity of Jesus and portrayed him as the Son of God. Instead of opening with the genealogies as the rest John opened with the declaration that Jesus is the Son of God, the Creator, the Source of life, the Light, the Father’s only Son and the Word. “The Word became a human being and…lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father’s only Son.” (John 1: 14).

Throughout the gospels we see Jesus from his Messiah ship to His divine deity as the Son of God. And it is that Jesus we serve today.

SERMON OUTLINE N.T SURVEY

SERMON OUTLINE N.T SURVEY
-JACKIE CHAMP
Summaries and Themes of the New Testament Books
Matthew – Jesus Christ is the King promised by the Old Testament.
Mark – Jesus Christ announces the kingdom and calls men to be disciples.
Luke – Emphasizes the humanity of Jesus, ministry to the poor and needy, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
John – Eternal life is through faith in Jesus Christ.
Acts – The kingdom of Jesus Christ spread through the ministry of the apostles and the witness of the early church.
Romans – The theology of the kingdom is that union with Christ results in justification by faith alone and sanctification by mortification and vivification.
1 Corinthians – Outposts of the kingdom, or churches, must be united in the gospel rather than divided over false doctrines.
2 Corinthians – Paul urges the church to recognize his apostleship and to unite with him in his ministry.
Galatians – Justification is not by good works but is by faith alone in Christ alone, which issues in godly living.
Ephesians – Jews and Gentiles who believe are one kingdom people in Christ.
Philippians – A clear understanding of the gospel of the kingdom results in a generous heart, willing to give to the cause of Christ.
Colossians – Jesus Christ is better than myths and worldly philosophies.
1 Thessalonians – Bereaved believers should take comfort in the fact that those who die in the Lord are alive with Christ and will be raised again.
2 Thessalonians – Persecuted believers should persevere in the faith, take comfort in the fact that judgment day is coming, and continue to work even though the day of the return of the Lord is near.
1 Timothy – Instructions on how pastors are to lead and organize the church of Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy – Exhortation to pastors to uphold and defend sound doctrine against all heresies and not to be like those leaders who propagate error.
Titus – Instructions to pastors to fight against both legalism and license, standing firm in the gospel of grace.
Philemon – Instruction to Philemon to accept Onesimus now that he had converted to Christ.
Hebrews – Jesus Christ and His Word is better than the Old Testament system; Jesus who was who is and who is to come deserves our worship and praise He alone deserves the glory.

effective prayer

Sermon outline-EFFECTIVE PRAYER

Prayer brings revival
Jackie Champ

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. kjv

2 Chronicles 7:14 (Amplified Bible)
14If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.

If my people who are called by my name If the people who are mine if those that are called by my name.
Who is that who is God’s people? When we get to that point True revival will fall. And God will touch His church. Until that point we have only a taste of Him.

He is so vast and we do not see all of Him.

Desire the face of God desire His face and when you touch His face He will gladly show you His hand.
.

Take a look at previous moves of God they started when “God’s people” became desperate before God.

True revival begins when God’s people pray. You see when we pray we are communicating with God and when we communicate with God He communes with us. That communion brings revival.

it’s all about Him all about spending time with Him all about glorifying Him. All about letting His name be known and preached to the ends of time to the ends of the earth.
He alone is worthy of our desperation. He alone deserves all we can give. And when we give it all we get it all. Just comes with the territory. Seek Him for Him not what He can give but Who He is.

prayer

Effective Prayer
Apeil 14 2010
Types of prayer
Prayer of consecration such as Jesus prayed - Mat 26:36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
Mat 26:37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
Mat 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
Mat 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
Mat 26:40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Mat 26:42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
It is a prayer to commit yourself to the will of God in your life.
Prayer to change something you know it is the will of God to change. - it includes the prayer of petition.
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
footnotes
1
The promise of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled.

John 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

THE ORIGINAL PROMISE IS FOUND IN JOEL

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
Joel 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
2
The people questioned
3
Some mocked
People have always questioned and/or mocked what they do not understand
4
Peter’s sermon

Acts

Acts
11/28/2009
Acts
In this paper I shall take a look into The book of Acts.

The book of Acts is thought to be written by Luke as it appears to be a continuation of the Gospel of Luke. Luke was a Gentile Physician believer (Col 4: 14) And apparently a friend of Paul. The Gospel is specifically directed to Theophilus (1:3), whose name means “one who loves God”
Traditionally the book of Acts has been dated in the second half of the first century. At one extreme, Norman Geisler dates it as early as between 60-62.
The place of composition is still an open question. For some time Rome and Antioch have been in favor, and Blass combined both views in his theory of two editions. But internal evidence points strongly to the Roman province of Asia, particularly the neighborhood of Ephesus.

In the book of Acts we find many great writings and stories.

(Acts 1:8 KJV) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy
Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in
Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of
the earth.

We also find the story of Pentecost- Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Act 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
Act 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
Act 2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
Act 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
Act 2:9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
Act 2:10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
Act 2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
Act 2:12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
Act 2:13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

Along with Peter’s sermon - Act 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
Act 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
Act 2:16  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Act 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Act 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
Act 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
Act 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
Act 2:25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
Act 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
Act 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Act 2:28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
Act 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
Act 2:30  Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
Act 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Act 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
Act 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
Act 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
Act 2:35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
Act 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Many other great accounts are found in the book of Acts. Too many to list here. Yet all pointing to the work of the blessed Holy Spirit.

Evangelism

Dynamic Love and Extreme Purpose
2/26/2010
Evangelism
What makes us worthy? If Jesus Christ is truly God, then He must possess the attributes of God, not just mirror them.

Omnipresence
God is "in' ' everything; all of God is everywhere present at each point in the universe. That is what being omnipresent means. Just as God is omnipresent in a personal sense (Psalm 139:7; Proverbs is:3), and thus is able to help, deliver, love, defend and meet His people's deepest longings and needs, so the New Testament describes Christ also as omnipresent. (Ephesians 4:10). Christ told His disciples, "For where two or three have gathered together in My Name, there I am in their midst (Matthew 18:20). He told them Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20).

Omniscience
When we say that God is omniscient, we mean that God knows everything that can be known, actual and potential, throughout eternity.
God has a perfect and eternal knowledge of all things. Everything that is able to be known, is known by God.
The New Testament pictures Christ as possessing omniscience: cognizance of all – past, present, and future. In John 2:24-25 it is stated that Jesus knew all men'' and ''knew what was in man.'' The disciples bore witness, Now we know that You know all things. ° (John 16,30). Peter declared, .Lord, You know all things (John 21,17). In keeping with His omniscience, Christ was said to have foreknown those who would betray Him (John 6:64).

Omnipotence
The Hebrew words El Shaddai can be translated "God Almighty." God is omnipotent or all-powerful. Christ's miracles evidenced His power over the physical world. But His words and His resurrection proclaim an authority and power over all creation. Dr. John Walvoord has written:
The evidence for the omnipotence of Christ is as decisive as proof for other attributes. Sometimes it takes the form of physical power, but more often it refers to authority over creation. Christ has the power to forgive sins (Matt. 9:6), all power in heaven and in earth (Matt. 28.18), power over nature (Luke 8:25), power over His own life (John 10:18), power to give eternal life to others (John 17.2), power to heal physically, as witnessed by His many miracles, as well as power to cast out demons (Mark i:29-34), and power to transform the body (Phil. 3:21). By virtue of His resurrection He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him' ' (Heb. 7:25). He is "able to keep that which I have committed unto you against that day" (2 Tim 1:12). He is "able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy" (Jude 24, cf. Eph. 5:27).

Pre-existence
Another attribute that Jesus and God share is preexistence. Many passages in Scripture support Jesus' existing prior to His birth, not as a mere idea in the foreknowledge of God, but in actuality.
Jesus said, "I came forth from the Father, and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again, and going to the Father' (John 16:28). Many times ', Jesus said that He had been "sent' ' into the world, implying that His origin had been outside the world .

Eternalness

The God of the Bible is eternal. He is both beyond time and the source of time. There was never a time when He was not: there never will be a time when He is not (Exodus 3.14; Habakkuk 3:6; Deuteronomy 33:26, 27). Only God is eternal.
Jesus Christ is also eternal. He did not have a "beginning,'' In foretelling the birth of Jesus the Messiah, the prophet Micah said, "His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity " (Micah 5:2). Isaiah, also speaking of Christ s birth, said that among other designations, the child would be called ''Eternal Father (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus said, "Before Abraham was born, I AM ' (John 8:58).

Immutability

Webster s Dictionary defines immutability as "not being capable of or susceptible to change." God is immutable in his person. Although He acts in time, and establishes and changes relationships in time, His essence, which includes his attributes, never changes (Malachi 3:6; James 1:l7; Psalm 33:11; Isaiah
46:9 10). we can rely on Him to love us eternally and keep His promises. Jesus obviously went through human developmental changes. Yet, concerning His divine nature, Scripture boldly asserts that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). Jesus and the Father stand as immutably one is essence.
Thus we see how many verses in Scripture reveal that Jesus Christ possesses all of the attributes of the eternal God.

I was not finished so got my hub to let me use hiw essay as a continuation of mine here it is.

The attributes of Jesus II
To become or be like Jesus we need to look at the attributes/characteristics of Jesus.
What attributes or characteristics did Jesus posses? If Jesus Christ is truly God, then He must possess the attributes of God, not just mirror them.
In I Corinthians we see the “love chapter” And Jesus is pure love in and of itself. So we can honestly say.
Jesus is:
Longsuffering
Kind
charitable
is not envious
is not boastful
is not proud
behaves in an appropriate manner
is not self seeking
is not easily provoked to anger
doesn't think evil
doesn't rejoice over evil
rejoices in truth
bears all things
believes all things
hopes all things
endures all things
is reliable (never fails)
I had posed this online with the question what others saw as the attributes of Jesus. Here is one quote that really struck me.
{personnal information of KingZzub}(http://treeoflifelondon.weebly.com/pastor-ben.html) said this “Jesus is compassionate no matter what. His nature is that of compassion - they killed his cousin and he just wanted to be alone, but filled with compassion he helped the crowd and healed the sick. That is what he is like - a hero who gives no thought to himself, only to others.” The perfect way to describe our Lord “compassionate to a fault”
The attributes of Jesus are the attributes of The Holy Spirit and of God the Father.

Sermon Outline. He reveals to us Jesus and teaches us to love our Lord.
When Jesus ascended to Heaven He told us that He would send us another Comforter.
John 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
When Jesus said I will not leave you comfortless I will come to you. What He was saying was I personally will not be with you. Yet my representative The Holy Spirit will be there. He will be your help, He will be your strength, He will teach you all things of me in my place.
How can we compare Holy Spirit to a person?
A person has emotions, The Holy Spirit has emotions. Ephesians 4:30 And grieve (lupeo (pronounced loo-peh'-o)); to make sad or sorrowful, heavy of heart) not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
A person has intellect The Holy Spirit has intellect. 1 Corinthians 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
A person has knowledge, The Holy Spirit has knowledge. 1 Corinthians 2:11 even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
A person has a will and can make decisions, The Holy Spirit has his own will and he makes decisions. Acts 16:6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia (pronounced froog-ee'-ah) and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
A person loves, The Holy Spirit Loves. Romans 15:30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

All these are the attributes of a person.

Let us look at a few more facts of His person-hood.

Things only a person would do
1) He teaches you things about God and yourself. John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
2) He tells the truth. John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
3) He guides. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
4) He convinces. John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
5) He prays for you. Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
6) He commands. Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

How can we compare Holy Spirit to a person? He has all the attributes of a person. He is not a force He is not a ghost even though that is His name He is invisible yet He is very much a person. And one we can count on for all things. He is the one here with us today. And His main job on this earth is to teach us Jesus. Grab His hand and let Him walk with you daily He is ever present and my blessed Friend.

Between the testaments sermon outline

Between the testaments sermon outline.

The Messiah in prophecy

Is Jesus spoken of in prophecy? The same Saul who in the book of Acts looked after the garments of those that stoned Stephen. Paul had called himself “I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee:” Paul was raised a Pharisee, grew up studying the law. Paul’s conversion came about on his way to persecute Christians. On the road to Damascus when the Lord appeared to him and said, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?” The timeline for the Pauline epistles were written from 52 or 53 AD, to 63 AD.

The Pauline books are;

Romans
1 and 2 Corinthians
Galatians
Ephesians
Philippians
Colossians
1 and 2 Thessalonians
1 and 2 Timothy
Titus
Philemon

The general epistles are as follows:

Hebrews some include the book of Hebrews among the apostle Paul's writings, the certain identity of the author remains an enigma. Missing is Paul's customary salutation common to his other works. In addition, the suggestion that the writer of this epistle relied upon knowledge and information provided by others who were actual eye-witnesses of Christ Jesus (2:3) makes Pauline authorship doubtful.
Possible timeline is was written around A.D. 65.

James The book of James is probably the oldest book of the New Testament, written perhaps as early as A.D. 45,

1 and 2 Peter between A.D. 60 and 68.

1 and 2 and 3 John A.D. 85 - 95 A.D.

Jude The book of Jude was written somewhere between A.D. 60 and 80.

Revelations was written by John the same John wrote the Book of John of the Gospels. The book of Revelation was likely written between A.D. 90 and 95.

Look into New Testament

New Testament Survey
11/28/2009
A look into the new testament
In this paper I shall take a look into The New Testament.

The New Testament as a whole contains 27 books. The four gospels, according to tradition, were written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (the four evangelists); the Acts of the Apostles was probably written by the evangelist Luke; most of the Letters or Epistles were written by Paul.

The structure of the New Testament is as follows: 1 Gospels 2 Acts 3 Pauline epistles 4 General epistles 5 Revelation

First the books that is referred to as the Gospels. Each of the gospels narrates the life and death of Jesus of Nazareth. The traditional author of each are also given as the names of each book. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The timelines range from A.D. 58-68 to 80-90 A.D. The different set of peoples that or the audience of each varies from Religious Jews, Roman, Greek and Universal. Due to the different audiences they also have a different main focus each is about Jesus but seen in different lights. Messiah-King, Servant/King, Perfect Man and Son of God. Each focuses as well on different attributes of Christ Strength, ,Service, wisdom and Deity. Three of the Gospels are historical in nature and the fourth is theological in nature.

Second The Acts. The author of this particular book is speculated by many as it is not certain but the main speculation holds that Luke who was the author of the book of Luke was the author.

Luke was a physician by trade as well as a gentile. It is believed that Luke was a friend of Paul who wrote the Pauline epistles. The timeline of Acts is also a speculation but the probability of it’s timeline is between 60-62 A.D. The book of Luke itself was written from 60-68 A.D. Acts is believed by some to be a continuation of the Gospel of Luke.

Messianic Prophecy 2

Messianic Prophecy 2
The Bible clearly reveals to us throughout it’s pages the Messiah.

The Messiah was to be a prophet.
Deu 18:15  The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Act 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Act 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

Was to be rejected by His own people.
Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Luk 23:18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:

Not believed
Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Joh 12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
Joh 12:38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Resurrected
Psa 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Psa 49:15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
Mar 16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
Mar 16:7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

All these Messianic prophecies point to one person and one only. Our Blessed Lord and Savior. it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Was to be a descendent of Abraham.
Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Mat 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Born in Bethlehem.
Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Luk 2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
Luk 2:5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
Luk 2:6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
Luk 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Born to a virgin.
Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Luk 1:26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
Luk 1:27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
Luk 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Luk 1:29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
Luk 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
Luk 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Identify with another

Identify with another
What does it mean to identify yourself with another? What does it mean to become identical with another? I shall attempt to take a look at these two questions and answer them.

Merriam Webster says to identify means: transitive verb 1 a : to cause to be or become identical b : to conceive as united (as in spirit, outlook, or principle) <groups that are identified with conservation>, intransitive verb 1 : to be or become the same.

To cause to be or become identical. What does it mean to be identical? 1 : being the same :
2 : having such close resemblance as to be essentially the same.

When two things are identical they are essentially the same. There is no to little difference.

Jesus was made identical to us and we with Him at the cross. He was made identical so we could inherit salvation through Him. It is through that act that allows us to call His Father our Father. It is through that act that allows us to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Where once sin had separated us (as a result of Jesus being made identical to us at the cross) we can now go before the throne of grace. As a result of Jesus being made identical to us we are the children of God the Father joint heirs of the Kingdom of Heaven with Him.

It is that identity of Jesus that gives us the right to the things of God. Such as salvation, healing, life, everything that is in the Father’s hand because of us being identical to Christ (through the work that was done at Calvary) we can accept everything that He has everything that He longs to give us.

We was made identical to Christ through the glorious work of the cross. And it that reason we can call God the Father our Heavenly Father.

Sermon on the mount-today

Kennedy Champ
Diane Kannady
The Sermon On The Mount
8/18/2009
The sermon on the mount-today
We will take the sermon on the mount and look at how it can pertain to us today. These scriptures were said to be in response to what Jesus’ hearers know of the law. Most likely they were. Yet I believe that looking at them in a slightly different light they can be applied to us as well.
Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those spiritually bankrupt, Who spiritually nothing left yet seek to filled up by God almighty for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are they that mourn over their sin for the Lord will comfort them with His salvation
Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they That shows patience and gentleness towards others for they shall inherit the earth
Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Where does righteousness come from? Christ of course. So then seek after Christ and you shall be filled with His Spirit.
Mat 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
How hard is it to show mercy in this life to one that does not appear to deserve it? Show them mercy (forgive them) and God will do the same for you.
Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
katharos
kath-ar-os'
Of uncertain affinity; clean (literally or figuratively): - clean, clear, pure.
This pureness comes one way only through Christ. Blessed are those who through Christ there hearts are pure.
Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Peacefulness alone will not do the trick. But blessed are those that seek peace for the sake of Christ.
Mat 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
For righteousness sake or for the sake of Christ. Blessed are you who persecuted for the sake of Christ. For yours will be the kingdom of Heaven
Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Spiritually Bankrupt

Jackie Champ
Diane Kannady
The Sermon On The Mount
8/18/2009
Spiritually bankrupt
The sermon on the mount Matthew 5:3 blessed are the poor in spirit. When one gets to that point true repentance can take hold and through that repentance the door will be opened to gain the wealth of the kingdom of heaven.
For one to be spiritually bankrupt they must recognize that they have nothing whatsoever except Christ. And they must realize that He is everything and all things.
Have we come to that point? Have we recognized that without Him we are destitute? But what does that mean? What is true worship?
True worship is a state of the heart and can be expressed in many ways. From the dance, to the song. It can be expressed though a lifestyle of service.
It is a state where God is all things and everything and everything within you just concentrates on Him It can be expressed though kneeling before the Lord or standing in His presence, though tears or laughter. The greatest worship I can express to the Lord is to teach my son to love Him.
Let us look to the temple of the old testament. The bible says enter His gates with thanksgiving come into His courts with praise. Past the gates past the courts into the Holy of Holies is where we find the true worshipers. Those that worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
Psalms 66:4 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.
Oh my Lord you have even made all the earth to worship you. How great you are how great in the valleys and in the mountains. How great you are on the land and in the sea how great you are from coast to coast. For you have made ALL the earth to worship you, YOU who alone are worthy.
Let me encourage you be one that dwells in the Holy of Holies.

Women pastors

The scripture used against this is1Timothy 2:11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
1Timothy 2:12
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

the main word used from this scripture to argue this is. How many takes a church by force?
Not many I would say.

Now let's look at something else concerning this.
There is a lot of misunderstanding about these scriptures.
Taken in the time they were written and knowing what was happening then. Women were viewed as property. We all know that is wrong women are not property. They were not allowed to know anything. They began to interrupt the service by asking from the back of the sanctuary non the less as they were expected to stand in back like they were less then human.
They began to yell to their husbands. "what's happening now what did he say what are they doing" things of that nature.
The women were then basically told stop interrupting the service.
the bible tells us God is no respector of persons. Meaning he don't hold someone else in higher regard than another.

Generational Curses

Generational curses

Generational curses was spoken about in this course and I would like to look a deeper into this very misunderstood subject.

The main scripture used in support of this is.

Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Let us look into a few more places:

Exodus 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's
children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

Numbers 14:18The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
Deuteronomy 5:9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
A lot of misunderstanding surrounds this. Let’s look at a few of those misunderstandings.
Some believes and even teach that one needs to repent over the sins of their ancestors.
Wrong!
One only repents over their own sins. Repentance over the sins of another does not work. Each person is responsible for their own actions.
Some believes and teaches that this gives the Devil a legal right to someone’s life.
Wrong!
It does not give Satan a legal right. But it does give him a foothold or an open door if you will.

General curses are misunderstood by many. Yet they are very scriptural.
Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
A generational curse is simply an open door where the devil can get a foothold into. A foothold could be in many forms.
For instance the native American people has in the past practiced forms of the occult. A generational curse was allowed into their lives. It was not a legal right but an open door for attack. I’m sure you are familiar with what has been referred to as the native American temper. That is actually a learned behavior but it is the result of the generational curse that they have been opened too.
We see many, many places in scripture where generational curses are evident . Let us take a look at a few.
Let us first look at Esau.
Esau hated his brother Jacob for pretending to be Esau himself in doing so Jacob tricked their father out of Esau’s blessing. This hatred traveled through the generations of Esau’s children. And actually became a generational curse to them.

Now let us take a look at Cannon.
Cannon performed a horrible sin against his father Noah. This resulted in a generational curse in fact the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah were descendants of Cannon.
Let us look in the word at a more recent curse.
When Jesus was crucified the Israelites told Pilate.
Matt 27:25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
We see signs of that generational curse today. In the guise of their eyes being blinded to the truth of the gospel of Christ.
How is a generational curse broken?
Just simply the blood of Jesus that shed on the cross. Praise be to God his shed blood applied to a generational curse closed that door. And sets one free from the attacks that Satan could bring against that person as a result.

On sickness and healing

Sometimes I get the impression that people thinks God gets pleasure in putting sickness on us.
News flash folks then according to the word of God His kingdom will fall.
Sin entered into the world and with it came sickness and disease.Take a look in Genesis where the serpent convinced Eve to sin. Who was the serpent?Satan of course.
So then when sickness and disease came into the world it was a result of SIN. NOT GOD.Now do you remember when I said that God's kingdom would fall. Those are the words of Jesus. Check this out.
Mat 12:22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. Mat 12:23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
Mat 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
Mat 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
Mat 12:26And if Satan cast out Satan,he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? This is also said in
Mark 3:24,25 and Luke 11:17
Now here is the kicker.
Exo 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
Deu 7:15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
Mat 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Jer 30:17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
Act 28:9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
There are many more verse that I can post. But these few show clearly that if God puts sickness on us then heals us. Then that means that His kindom is divided and will not stand.

A Lesson on Authority

A lesson in authority
Luk 7:6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: Luk 7:7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
Luk 7:8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
Luk 7:9 When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
You will notice here that the centurion a man of authority recognized the authority of Jesus. And also recognized that Jesus was under the authority of another(God the Father). The man also admitted to being under authority. Jesus marveled at him and said "I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
"This is a clear example of authority. To have authority one must recognize that the authority over them.It is not age. Or race or gender or physical stature that gives one authority. But the ability to place themselves under the authority of another. For one to be able to have authority over another they must be able and willing to submit themselves to the one that has authority over them.

On Lending

Exodus 22:25 -"If you lend money to My people, to the poor among you,you are not to act as a creditor to him; you shall not charge him interest.
"Lev 25:36 Take no usury or interest from him; but fear your God, that your brother may live with you.
Lev 25:37 You shall not lend him your money for usury, nor lend him your food at a profit.
Neh 5:7 After serious thought, I rebuked the nobles and rulers, and said to them, "Each of you is exacting usury from his brother." Nov 8 2008

I will tell you what I honestly believe about what is happening right now.
I may be wrong but I feel this deep inside very strongly and others are feeling the same.
I believe we are seeing prophecy begin to unfold. The prophecy being that of the end times.
I believe that prayers were answered the reason I say that is I believe that this is judgement.
Judgement for America freely killing the innocent under the guise of choice and convenience.
And for freely accepting sodomy and calling it an alternet lifestyle.
In the bible we don't hear much of America a little but not much as far as prophecy is concerned. That has begun with this president his views will destroy this once great nation. In fact I believe he is a forrunner to the anti-christ. I am not sure how long this will take it may be a few years may be sooner. But I believe we are beginning to see the beginning of the end.
Don't fret don't be dispaired. Not faith in just anything. But faith in God.
The word of God says.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the sign that the things not seen are true.(bible in basic English)
Though we do not see the thing with our mortal eyes faith says it is done because God says so.
And by all means.
Num 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
By all means God does not by any means lie. And He said it then so be it.
Faith accepts the fact that if God said it then it is so no matter what.
Faith is not based on what is physically seen on the contrary it is based on the opposite. Faith is based on what is unseen.
Faith sees the situation and says my God is greater than you, His word says this about this situation.
Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Faith sees the answer even if it is far off faith says it’s there don’t let go.
Living by faith is to live with the knowledge that we have a loving Father in heaven And as His children all things in His kingdom is ours.
Live your life by that knowledge that you have a Heavenly Father that loves you and as his child he has given you the riches of the kingdom.

Resurrection Realities

Resurrection Realities
1/13/2009
The Power of our words
Words having resurrection power was briefly touched on in this course. So I am going to take it a bit further and look at the power of our words.
Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
The tongue holds power to either bring death or life. How can this be?
We shall attempt to take a look at this phenomenon. Have you ever noticed that when a parent says to their child “you’ll never amount to anything” or something of the sort. As a rule it comes true?
That is because there is power in our words.
Jas 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Jas 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
Jas 3:7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
Jas 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
But at the same time where we see the power of death we see the power of life.
1Pe 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
Tit 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
Let me leave you with this encouragement.
Speak blessings not coursings.
Speak life not death.
Speak of holy and Godly things.

The Blood of Jesus and the New Covenant

The Blood of Jesus and the New Covenant
October 28, 2008
The blood of Jesus
On this paper I shall attempt to take a look at something that can only be explained as miraculous. The blood of Jesus.
Throughout time God required a sacrifice of blood to atone for mankind’s sins. We see in the old testament where the blood of bulls, lambs and goats were required as a sacrifice to God. Those sacrifices were only to last for a year then after the year another sacrifice was required. But the blood of Jesus held and holds more power and authority then the sacrifices of past.
His blood was shed for all time.
It was the sacrifice to end all other blood sacrifices. And such a perfect sacrifice it was.
That blood covers our sins.
Matthew 26:28For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. KJV
Matthew 26:28Take of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the testament, which is given for men for the forgiveness of sins. BBE
Rev 1:5And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, That precious blood also has the power to heal.
Isaiah 53:5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
1Pe 2:24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
The blood of Jesus was shed for all that is willing to accept it.
And yes it still is effective today.
It still holds the authority of God.
It is never ending.

The Meaning of righteousness
What is righteousness?
A proper understanding of Righteousness is a key to victorious Christian living.True Godly righteousness is greatly misunderstood by Christians and non-Christians alike. I will attempt to explain the meaning of righteousness in the following paragraphs.
What is Righteousness? The quality of be right, upright or just.
Let us take a moment to examine these three words. Right: being in accordance with what is just, good, or proper right conduct; conforming to facts or truth. Upright: marked by strong moral rectitude an upright citizen: having or showing a strict regard for what is morally right, a strict adherence to moral principles. Just: acting or being in conformity with what is morally upright or good.
Where does true righteousness come from?
Let us take a look.
Isaiah 54:17bThis is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
1 Corinthians 1:30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
2 Corinthians 5:21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Clearly the believer is made Righteous by God through Christ and not of themselves.Righteousness comes by faith.
Galatians 3:6-9 6Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
So in conclusion Righteousness comes from God through Christ by faith and not of ourselves. It is that God righteousness that we are to seek.
